Tom Rossetti
Tom Rossetti — is a native Floridian, born in Fort Lauderdale in 1963. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University in1986 with B.F.A. degrees in Fine Art and Art History. Artistically, Rossetti was classically trained, but has developed into an Abstract Expressionist. Rossetti states: “I have always loved the Expressionists!” Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon have definitely influenced his current style.
He loves the freedom of expressing emotions as he paints, however, most of the time he lets the paint itself direct the mood and composition of his canvases. His work tends to be expressionistic and abstract, though landscapes, seascapes and dreamscapes would be the recurring theme.
Living in South Florida, he is drawn to the dynamics of weather and to atmospheric conditions; the elements of fire, water, air and earth. Lightening, thunder, hurricanes, sunshine, sunrises and sunsets all evoke different energies and hence affect his moods and emotions. Tom expresses these emotions through his work.
Rossetti is also gifted in the area of Interior and Landscape Design and is an accomplished pianist and published poet; a contemporary Renaissance Man of sorts. This may be contributed to his rich family heritage. His descendants can be traced back to the famous Pre-Raphaelite painter Dante Gabrielle Rossetti and sister his poet Christina Georgina Rossetti. He is also a sought after and respected juror for many of the South Florida Art Exhibitions and Shows. His works are in private collection in the United States and in Europe.
