Ward Hooper
WARD HOOPER — Ward Hooper of Northport, New York is best known for his watercolors that depict places he comes across in his travels. Using the Wet-on-Wet watercolor technique, Mr. Hooper's paintings are fresh, loosely painted and bursting with color. Always with his paints by his side, it would not be uncommon seeing Ward all over Long Island capturing a scene that interests him.
Ward Hooper has a degree in Commercial Art from the New York State Technical College as well as studying at the Arts Student League of New York. He also spent a number of years studying with Edgar Whitney in his watercolor workshops. After thirty years as an Art Director and award winning Design Director for the J.C. Penny Co. and as Vice President of the Coleman Group, Mr. Hooper has devoted his full time to painting and teaching on Long Island.
He is currently on the teaching staffs of the Art League of Long Island and the Muttontown School of Fine Arts.
